Weddings

A wedding is typically one of the most important days in a person's life. When a couple decides to invite others to share in their special day, at a nice venue, they want to make sure it is a memorable event. There are two things that people tend to remember the most, besides the wedding couple of course - whether or not the food was good, and whether or not the entertainment was good. Choosing a DJ is far more than just price; it's about experience, quality, professionalism - and it's about how well that DJ fits personality-wise. Company Owner Mike Harrell has been in the mobile entertainment industry since 1998 - that's 26 years of experience, much of it derived from performing at weddings. Mike was the House DJ for Salero in Rehoboth Beach Delaware, a beautiful and elegant rooftop venue, from 2010 to 2016, and performed hundreds of weddings there. Wedding DJ performance success requires good planning, communication, flexibility, coordination, skill as an Emcee, and of course the ability to keep the dance floor moving when the dancing starts. 

Corporate Events

Understanding corporate events is crucial to effectiveness as a DJ. Corporate events range from company parties, to product launches, to award ceremonies, and lots more. The clientele in these events is different from the usual club or party crowd. They expect professionalism, punctuality, and an ability to play music that appeals to a diverse audience. Constant interaction is also a key ability. All Tunes Entertainment has had the opportunity to perform for several corporate entities.

Class/Family Reunions

It's always fun when a group of people who haven't seen each other for a long time get together. It's an opportunity to catch up, to reminisce about “the good ol' times”, and also to catch up on what's going on now. Having a background of music at the start and while eating, coordinating interactive activities/games, and then doing some dancing, can absolutely take the event to another level. Company Owner Mike Harrell has participated in many reunions, including DJ-ing his own 20-year high school class reunion! 

Private Organization Events

Company Owner Mike Harrell is a member of the Moose Lodge, the American Legion, provides support when called upon for the LIONS, and will soon become a member of the ELKS. Service is incredibly important, and he is always looking for opportunities to provide musical support to these worthy community-oriented organizations. 

Birthdays & Anniversaries

Birthday and Anniversary parties can be very interesting and challenging, largely due to vast differences in demographics - the music for a 30th birthday party is going to be quite different from a 60th birthday party. It becomes even more of a challenge for a 30th anniversary vs. a 60th anniversary! Even so, usually when the family is throwing a surprise 50th birthday or anniversary party, a wide age range is in attendance. Being able to read such a diverse crowd is very similar to weddings and corporate parties. Birthday and anniversary parties usually don't have a variety of vendors in attendance - it might be held in a local fire company banquet hall, or in someone's backyard. A skilled DJ can not only provide a fun and festive atmosphere, but also help guide the event. All Tunes Entertainment has performed at many birthday and anniversary parties, at all types of venues, and for diverse ages.

Public Venues

Company Owner Mike Harrell has performed in various public settings - bars, night clubs, restaurants, festivals, car shows and more - all of which require a lot of diversity in music selection, and a great deal of interaction. Mike was the “House DJ” for WT Smithers, a restaurant/night club in Dover DE, from 2008 to 2015.

Fundraisers

There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a DJ for your fundraising event. First, you will want to make sure that the DJ has experience playing at similar events. This will ensure that they know how to read the crowd and get them moving. Second, you will want to choose a DJ who is willing to work with you on creating a custom playlist that includes songs that are appropriate for your event. Finally, you will want to make sure that the DJ you choose is comfortable making announcements that pertain to the various activities that occur during the event, as well as make announcements throughout the event about the fundraising purpose. Outdoor Events

From a performance standpoint, an event is generally the same whether it is inside or outside. However, there are a lot of factors that can make an outdoor event challenging. Temperature, brightness, darkness, overcast skies that could lead to rain, heavy wind, limited power sources…for an inexperienced DJ, this can really create issues that negatively affect the performance. All Tunes Entertainment is well prepared to perform outside, with a pop-up tent, portable power, durable high-quality equipment needed to withstand the possible rigors of the environment, and also with the power to push sound effectively. 

Graduations

A Graduation party is a once-in-a-lifetime event that marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. It’s a celebration of accomplishment, a time to remember, and a chance to dance and have a great time. But one of the most important things to consider when planning a graduation party is the music!  Having a great mix of music is essential to making sure everyone has a great time. It can be a balancing act, as it is usually a mix of older family members and their friends, who typically enjoy the “older” music of their generation, and also the graduate and the friends in their age group who want to listen to the latest songs (some of which can unfortunately be a little questionable…) The key is communication - find out the graduate's favorites in advance, and craft an appropriate playlist from that, but also speak with the event purchaser to make sure their musical preferences are worked in. All Tunes Entertainment is excellent at striking that balance.

Holiday Parties

DJ-ing for a holiday party, particularly a corporate party hosted by a company for its employees and their families, can be as challenging as a wedding. From start to finish, the event needs to be coordinated and handled professionally - it's not as simple as playing holiday songs during Cocktail Hour and Dinner, then switching to dance tunes. An open-source format is definitely needed, bouncing around seamlessly from one music genre to the next, in order to cater to an incredibly diverse crowd. It also requires coordination with venue staff, other vendors, and designated event point-people from the hiring company.
